Here are some behind the scene shots from the other day with the shoot I did for JOLYN for the clothing and swimwear I designed.    Photographer Hailley Howard, Model Caitlin,  and Hair and makeup artist Marlaine.  We shot all around LA, running across train tracks and sliding down the LA River, jumping around in Chinatown, getting yelled at in Little Tokyo, and stopping for lunch at this amazing Australian style pot pie restaurant in the Artist District.  Lookbook coming out soonjolyn shoot mallyce 2 IMG_2042 IMG_2045 IMG_2051 jolyn shoot mallyce jolyn shoot mallyce 1

SKY FERREIRA for ASOS by JASON LEE PARRY

Posted on | June 10, 2013 | No Comments

I’ve always been a fan of Jason Lee Parry’s natural light + playful + edgy photography.  He’s also one of the local Eastsiders I see around, so it’s nice to know that someone who seems like a nice, cool guy, is getting some good press out there.  He usually works with amazing stylists as well, in which I often pull photos for inspiration.  Check out his site here.  This shoot he did for Asos featuring the musician Sky Ferreira.

Kid Dangerous // Poolside // Styling + Design

Posted on | May 7, 2013 | No Comments

Recently I got to work on a cool photoshoot + video for my homies at  Kid Dangerous.  They’re some of my designer friends whom also went to USC, which are few and far between.  They are amazing guys and fun to work with, especially on this shoot.  I styled the shoot as well as threw in some of my Mallyce and LAEKEN designs, as well as a ton of swimwear from the company JOLYN whom I both work for and have a collaboration with.  They wanted to capture fun and quirky girls living the Kid D lifestyle.  The shoot also featured my friend’s sunglasses line CRAP.  With the help of the amazingly talented Videographer Jayson Fox (instagram: @jaysonsucks) + Photographer Neave Bozorgi (@sirneave)  + Makeup Artist Chelsea Gehr (@mermaidpuss) and of course all produced by the crew at KID DANGEROUS.  Models: Kyra (@kyrasantoroxx) // Bryanna (@bhollyb) // Amber (@amberalvarez) // Chloe (@chloemirandapb).  Here is an exclusive look behind the scenes of my favorite Kid D photo shoot ever as well as some rad photos:

DO IT YOUR FRIGGIN SELF! : HOLST & LEE NECKLACE

Posted on | February 26, 2013 | No Comments

Today I’ll teach you how to make a HOLST + LEE inspired skull necklace.

You can go get beads at Michael’s, Joann, Etsy, or any bead store around town to get some like the ones featured.  Just make sure to get different size beads for a cooler look.
1. Buy rope trim.

2. Buy a flat trim, preferably with some metallic.

3. Lay the rope trim on the flat trim and place a chain in between.  Keep in place with pins.

4. Sew the trims and chain together back and forth.

5. Buy beads, jump rings, and my favorite: a pack of nuts and bolts from a hardware stores.

6. Put some beads on the wire posts and make a loop.  Attach those loops to the chain on the necklace with jump rings.

7. Burn the edges of the rope and flat trim and then sew the ends together.

8. Take some sort of super glue for the edges and then take a bead (like the pointy metallic one) and place over the ends which will glue it in place.

9. Attach a necklace faster/clasp to the chain.  I like the industrial looking ones.

10. The End.. HAPPY CREATING!

THE NEW METALLICS

Posted on | February 22, 2013 | No Comments

This Spring ’13 season we have been seeing a lot of the “NEW METALLICS”.  That rainbow shimmery or holographic metallic.  Remember admiring the colors of bubbles and beetles as a kid?  This season brings us back to the days of iridescent  and kaleidoscope of color.

Shoes by Miista, Cheap Monday necklace,  Le Specs sunnies, sweater by See You Monday and the raddest shirt I have ever seen.

HEY YOU CRAY: safari

Posted on | January 30, 2013 | No Comments

I started a blog a while back called HEY YOU CRAY about the insane things people wear for fashion.  I’m now going to funnel that onto here:

Dear ANDRE J,

Would you like to go on a picnic with me tomorrow?  It’s in Africa, so make sure you wear something to scare off the lions.  Can’t wait!

Best,
MMM
